The Rope 1986 LP • $50 SOLD
In the Rewards tab of the Kickstarter, you’ll see this Add-On for 1 of 6 original copies of the 1986 LP pressing. These are the final copies I have, which have been traveling with me around the country for the past 40 years. They weren’t in shrinkwrap or bags, the cover has scuffs (some from the shoddy pressing in Miami, and some from traveling). Vinyl might have slight warpage. Vintage!

These are the original paste-up boards for the 1986 lyric insert.
#2 • The Rope CD 1993 cromalin booklet proof • $300
4/17/93. This is the cromalin proof for the 4-page lyric booklet from the 1993 CD edition of The Rope. A Cromalin proof is a high-quality, analog, laminated color “hard proof” created by laminating four separate color films (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) into one piece to verify color accuracy, registration, and layout before press.
#3 • The Rope cassette 1993 colorkey proof. print • $200
3/23/93. This is the ColorKey proof my printer made for the 1993 cassette edition of The Rope. Color Keys (or ColorKey) consisted of four individual, transparent acetate sheets—one for each cyan, magenta, yellow, and black (CMYK) color separation—that were stacked or “overlaid” together to preview the final printed image’s color placement. (9.5×12″)

#6 • Tshirt artwork • $200
This was the 1986 artwork for the first BlackTape Tshirt. This was shot and turned into the silkscreen that Walter & I used to print the shirts. It is not the same silkscreen as the one that made the art-prints in #4 + #5. The shirts were gray with black ink. (9.5×13″)
#7 • Alternative Rhythms article layout • $200
This was the final layout page for a 1986 article about BlackTape in my fanzine. It’s a xerox, with a bunch of white out, and my hand-drawn “lingering flicker” image of Caroline at the top. The drawing at the top has a small signature next to it. I can scrawl a bigger signature next to that if you like. (17×11″)
1986 Pencil Sketches • Memorabilia #8 • $750 SOLD
Three 8.5″-square pencil sketches I (Sam) made in 1986, with my ideas for the cover, back cover, and insert. From what I can remember, these sketches were for Oscar, to use in the layout of the LP (Oscar did the final design work). Not everything drawn was incorporated into the final artwork. This shows the original cover image; The Rope LP’s cover was a different photo of Robin. The current cover is the original back-cover image, which was swapped out in 1993. These are not signed, but can be signed if you like. This is a two-sided unscored & uncut press sheet from the Ashes cassette run. Late 80s or early 90s. Signed by Sam (I think in 2014). (10.25×6.5″)
